Another Attempt to Extend Solar Tax Credits

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

With Federal Solar tax credits set to expire at the end of 2008, members of Congress are once again trying to extend renewable energy tax credits for both commercial and residential customers. The new bill seeks to increase the residential tax credit from $2,000 to $4,000 for an additional six years and to extend the existing Federal commercial tax credit for an additional eight years.

The bill would tap revenues from the oil and gas industry in order to make up for the lost tax revenue from the solar credits. It is seemingly a no-brainer, but remains under threat of veto from President Bush.
